Comments on: made up words

A few of us in my old job used to make up new words (over lunch in the pub) for use during our Friday afternoon weekly meetings – mostly to try and confuse the project manager, who didn’t have the balls to admit he didn’t understand what we were saying.

These words weren’t even derivations of real one. They were totally made up. An example being: “We’re entering a very treptid time for the project, when fanctuous influences way well rasinite our delivery.”

I tend to make up new swear-words and sweary phrases, which is always useful.

Although it does make me look like I’ve got Tourettes on occasion…

What the HELL is infedlitous supposed to mean.

The -ability and -able words I can sort of live with, and I imagine that in a few years time more of them will be adopt into dictionaries.

Ahem. I make up words. That’s over and above misspellings and typos.

My favourites currently are
- Trustability
- Infedlitous.

I must admit I make words up all the time, only when speaking though. It’s turned into something of an office joke with everyone waiting for the next brand new inspirational word!!
