Odd socks

Lonely socks, originally uploaded by Gordon.

Where do they go, the odd socks in life? Why do they leave? Do think they won’t fit in? Are they unhappy with their twin? Are they just wanting to forge a new life, alone and independent? Or are they plucked from their comfortable existence, screaming and crying, dragged off to somewhere else?

Do they find each other, these oddities, console and comfort each other, and plan their way back to where they belong?

They must be lonely.

Duvet covers and pillow cases are the carnivores of the laundry room. I suspect your socks have been eaten.

You’ve brought a tear to my eye. Over socks! I must be soft…

The boring answer is to throw away all your socks and buy dozens of pairs of identical ones.

But what about the teaspoons that regularly disappear – do they run off with the odd socks?

2nd, 3rd and last in the bottom row are, I think, the long lost twins of some of ours.

i’ll take your odd socks and raise you twenty times that number (apparently I’m playing sock poker). I’m saving mine up to stuff a large cushion or three.
